Malta

The island of Malta sits at the southern edge of Europe in the Mediterranean Sea. Here you'll find warm weather, blue water, great snorkeling and diving, plentiful beaches, and festivals six months out of the year. When you tire of lounging in the sun, explore Malta's rich history. The Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, and Europeans occupied the island in turns, leaving an architectural legacy of temples, churches, palaces, and monuments.

India

With over 300 languages, English has become India's common language. And, as the world's seventh largest country, there's a lot to see there. For art, architecture, and history, start in Delhi, India's cultural center. Enjoy Hindu temples, Indian music, and the urban architecture of the Mughals. From Delhi, visit the Taj Mahal in Agra and then onto the pink-hued buildings of Jaipur (the city's originators believed pink was the color of hospitality). If you want outdoor activities, try hiking in the Indian Himalayas, plan a dive trip in the Bay of Bengal, or take a camel trek in Rajasthan.

South Africa

Spectacular scenery, hiking, beaches, flora, and, of course, wildlife are what you'll find in South Africa. At Kruger National Park, see exotic animals like leopards, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs and giraffes in their natural environment. Along the Garden Route, swim in pristine lagoons, lounge on the white beaches, or stroll through huge areas of indigenous forest. If you prefer history and culture, visit beautiful Cape Town or spicy Durban.

Singapore

What the city-state of Singapore lacks in size, it makes up for in multiculturalism. Sandwiched between Indonesia and Malaysia, Singapore has Chinese, Malay, Indian, and European influences. Spend the morning shopping along glitzy Orchard Road, enjoy lunch in Little India or Chinatown, and finish the day with a night safari at the Singapore Zoo. For the best beaches and some Singapore fun, visit Sentosa Island, Singapore's most famous park.

Hong Kong

If you love 24-hour-a-day action, then stop in Hong Kong. Take your pick of restaurants, nightlife, shopping, and entertainment. Feel the buzz as you jostle down the sidewalk with millions of others. From Victoria Peak get a sweeping view of the city's towering skyline and the surrounding area. It's possible to get away from the hustle and bustle on the Outlying Islands and New Territories (Hong Kong is divided into four main areas), but if you want peace and quiet don't come to Hong Kong!
