A bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood and parked himself on the roof of the cave to get some sleep. Pretty soon, all the other bats smelled the blood and began asking where he got it. He told them to go away and let him get some sleep, but they kept bothering him until he finally gave in.
The bat said, “OK, follow me,” and flew out of the cave with hundreds of other bats behind him. Down through the valley, they went before crossing a river and entering a forest full of trees. Finally, when he slowed down, all the other bats excitedly formed a circle around him. “Now, do you see that tree over there?” the bat asked. “Yes, yes, yes!” the others all screamed. “Good, because I sure didn’t!” said the bat.
一隻渾身沾滿鮮血的蝙蝠從夜色中振翅飛來，並停在洞穴頂端睡個覺。很快地，所有其他蝙蝠聞到了血腥味，便開始問牠血從哪來的。牠叫牠們都走開好讓牠睡覺，但牠們不停煩牠直到牠終於屈服。
蝙蝠說：「好，跟我走。」然後飛出洞口，身後跟著數以百計的其他蝙蝠。 牠們飛越山谷前穿越一條河流，然後來到一座滿是樹的森林。終於，牠放慢速度下來，所有其他的蝙蝠全都很興奮地包圍著牠。蝙蝠問：「現在你們有看見那邊的那棵樹嗎？」其他蝙蝠全大叫著說：「有！有！有！」蝙蝠說：「很好，因為我看不見。」
