引擎是透過吃油或是轉換蒸汽等能源而產生動力的裝置，由英文engine直接音譯而來。
除了engine之外，多數狀況下也可以和motor一詞交換使用，作為「引擎」之意，但engine所指的引擎多半比motor要大。
