attempt 可當動詞使用，表示嘗試做某件事，也可當名詞使用，意思是「嘗試」的行為，如：

This is my second attempt at the exam.
這是我第二次去參加那個考試。
例句：
Make sure the rope is firmly attached before attempting to climb down it.
在你嘗試爬下來之前，要確保繩子有綁緊。
