台灣人常說上車下車、開燈關燈，那換成英文要怎麼說呢？

to get on / off 上車、下車（可在裡面站立的交通工具）
對於可在其中站立及走動的交通工具，我們就會使用此片語，例如公車、火車、飛機和船。

He got on the bus in Taipei and headed to the airport.
他搭上公車前往機場。

I left my cell phone while getting off the train.
我下火車的時候忘記帶走手機了。

get into / get out 上車、下車（只能坐在裡面的交通工具）
這個片語也是上下車的意思，但要跟只能坐在其中、不能站立的交通工具搭配，例如汽車和計程車。

I saw her getting into a taxi with a man.
我看見她跟一個男人坐上計程車。

board 這個字也可做上車使用，用法於與 get on 相同，適用在可在其中站立及走動的交通工具，請參考以下用法

He was on board the ship.
他在船上。

to turn on / off 打開電源、關閉電源
如果要用英文表示開關電源或電器類的物品時，絕對不可用 open 或 close，turn on 和 turn off 才是正確的用法，或者也可以使用 switch on / off。

Can you turn on the TV? It’s time for my favorite show.
可以幫我打開電視嗎？我最喜歡的節目要開演了。

My mom asked me to turn off the light and go to bed at 9 p.m.
我媽要求我九點時就要關燈睡覺。

除了開關電源，turn on / off 還有另外的意思，turn on 指使人興奮、感興趣，turn off 則是使人倒胃口的意思。

That hot guy at the bar really turned me on。
那位吧檯前的帥哥讓我很興奮。

to put on / to take off 穿衣、脫衣
這裡穿脫的衣物指的是衣服、帽子及鞋子等，請參考以下例句。

She put on the coat before going out.
她在出門前穿上外套。

We’ve got heater in the house. You can take off your puffer jacket.
我們有開暖氣，你可以把羽絨衣脫掉。

wear / dress

這兩個詞也是穿上的意思，不過它們的用法不太一樣，put on 指的是「穿」的動作，wear 則是「穿好」的狀態，dress 可跟 up 搭配，形成片語 dress up，是盛裝的意思。

It’s inappropriate to wear jeans to a formal interview.
正式的面試中穿牛仔褲是很不恰當的。

Teenage girls enjoy dressing up for parties.
青春期的少女很享受為派對盛裝的機會。

take off 除了脫衣的意思以外，也可以是飛機起飛的意思。

Hurry up! Our plane takes off at 8 a.m.
